    blower squirrel cage trashed

My blower motor seems to run fine, but settings 3 & 4 are really noisy. I took the cover off to see what was inside and found the passenger side squirrel cage all chewed up. I find it really annoying to have to spend $300 to fix a piece of plastic, so wondering if there's any way to replace just that?

I don't suppose there is, so has anyone tried a temporary fix, like maybe just cutting it off the shaft? Hoping to make it less objectionable until I can get lucky at the local junkyard.

Yikes that thing is a little chewed up.

I don't think you have much of an option other than just keep it at 1 or 2 until you can replace it. I believe it is supposed to be balanced so if you cut one side off it will mess up the other since it will be heavier.

Crazy Ray's in Jessup had 2 late model E30s that have that style blower motor that were pretty untouched so they should still be there and ripe for the picking. $13 + $2 core.

Thanks, I was OMW to the one in Mount Airy today, but I think I'll head over to Jessup instead.

        Score!

Nice getting a $300 part for 15 bucks, if it works that is. I probably should have pulled both just in case.

Now to setup a test jig to see if this one actually works. Thanks again, r3vlimited is teh best!

That happened to me too. As a temporary fix I cut off all the fins on the one side that was trashed (not sure I can get it out with my m30 in there). Still haven't replaced it - the air blows 80% of what it did before.
