    Recaro Seat Questions

Hey all you Recaro Gurus, I picked up these tan Recaros recently from another E30, does anyone here know what they originally came out of? I'm pretty sure they are not original E30 seats, they don't look anything like the sport seats from the es/is models. I thought they might be from a VW GLI/GTI, but they look a little different, & I'm pretty sure VW never offered them in tan leatherette. Are they aftermarket Recaros that were never sold in a car new? There is a serial number sticker still on the bottom of the seat, see the pic below...

Let me know what you guys think, I got them to tide me over before getting race seats, thinking they would be a good upgrade from my original comfort seats for autocrossing (which they are). They look absolutely awesome in my car, but they sit a little too high for my liking, so I'm considering selling or trading them to get some Sparco or Corbeau fixed back race seats. Any info is greatly appreciated!

They're aftermarket judging by the knob at the hinge per this: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...5&postcount=26

They look freaking great, no doubt. Wish I knew where to source a set. I'd much rather have these than sport seats to replace my comforts. PM me where you got them from, lol.

            Those are Recaro LS's.
You are aware that Recaro is an aftermarket seat manufacturer? (yes they also supply seats as OE)
They are not necessarily from any BMW or any other car and this is more than likely the case.

Very nice! 100% not VW OEM seats, I'm very familiar w/ all the iterations.

Thanks for the info, yes I'm well aware that Recaro is an aftermarket manufacturer, however I'm willing to bet they make more seats for OEM applications than they do for the aftermarket. That's why I thought these may have been original equipment in some vehicle, but sounds like aftermarket LS's they are :)

That is an old-school Momo wheel from the late 80s...I think it has been on the car since then. It has these numbers on it... TYP V36, KBA 70064, 9-88, other than that I don't know the name of it. It's a nice wheel & is in pretty good condition considering how old it is, but I'm considering pulling it in favor of something very light wrapped in grippy suede

Judging by the upper bolsters these are LX, not LS. (fyi)

Yes, these are now for sale or trade, I REALLY like how they look in my car but I need something lighter with more support for competition.

Once again, thanks everyone for the info.

they are recovered ls's or lx's.. either way the foam has been modified. The fact that the foam has been modified leans me towards the idea of them being lx's as they look like lx's with extra foam stacked on top of them.

This would make sense because the lx bolster are prone to break down alot faster then ls and alot of upholstery shops to hack job foam repair (foams broke down so they just stack more foam on top of it).
