    is it vinyl or leather?

The SEM vinyl dye is the bomb, on vinyl.

Yes but that's a part of the entire Leatherique redye process. The idea is to return the leather closer to its natural state ready to receive a dye. Leather is hard to dye correctly and you can't skimp on it. Unless you go with the whole Letherique system you'll just end up with destroyed seats by taking sandpaper and lacquer thinner to them.

Don't want to be Buzz Killington but if you're a cheapass, then buy the right color seats. Vinyl dye will last a few weeks then flake, fade, and look like shit.

I'm afraid I have to ignorantly doin you, not speaking from experience but I jut feel like I can do this. Btw I am using A leather specific dye. Not vinyl. SEM makes high quality stuff.

                  Nope, not true at all.

Scrub them with a soft brush and acetone, wipe them off (this is critical here) and use a whole roll of paper towels wiping in 1 direction ONLY.

Now, wash with basic dishsoap and water, but only a little soap. Rinse and dry for several hours, or with a hairdryer...get them completely dry.

Now, spray a very light coat of dye, then do it again after it dries (again, that hairdryer does wonders) and repeat until satisfied.

Here is how my seat looked after 2 years (it was tan too):

It ain't perfect, but it is entirely adequate for spending 2 hours and $10.

                  GL!

No, I generally use Duplicolor, they are better these days than SEM (which I have used professionally since 1980) that has become crap.
