Get rid of the rear seats...

So I have my sparco shells in my e30 right now and there is no way to get into the back seats unless you are damn skinny. So I'm pondering just taking them out. The stock sports up front weighed a ton so I figure the rears probably do too. Anyone have any tips on getting these things out and is it even worth my time to do it?

The rears actually weigh pretty much nothing. Not really even worth messing with.

Leather would weigh something, but if they're cloth, they're definitely not worth your time. Are you asking how to get the rears out with the stuff blocking your way, or just how to remove the rear seats?

I was thinking of taking out the back seats and laying down some suede to make it look pretty. Just a thought if you do decide to take them out.

They are black leather. And for the fag that called me a douche and a racer boi...Why keep them there if it is just dead weight. And yes this will be my track car soon. So bug off.

Are they really that much? I had my leatherette rear seats out a few days ago, and it didn't seem like they were that heavy. What ever happened to that weight savings thread?

The seat bottom just pulls out. Lift up on the corners to pop it off the clips. The seat back has 2 10 mm bolts that hold it down on each side near the bolts for the seat belts. Lift up the flaps of the door panel and you will see the two black bars with the bolts that hold them on. After that lift up and it should come off the two clips that hold it on.

If you do pull em out you will hear your fuel pump running. Can get kinda annoying, but if it is a dedicated track car I'd pull it. If it is not dedicated track only and you really want to drop that extra weight for track day pull out the seat then. It only takes about 5-10min to do.

Well my exahust is definatly loud enough to muffle the fuel pump anyways. Shouldn't be a big deal. The car is basically tracked out already, I just still drive it every day...

You won't save much weight oulling them out, but it takes about 2 minutes to remove, and a grand total of 2 screws. If they are useless and inaccessible back there, just pull them out.

Exactly my thoughts. And it's a good excuse to not even let people try and get in the back. Thay always rip my center console to hell when they try.

leather ones weigh exactly thirty pounds... combine that with the sixty odd pounds you can take out of the trunk (sound deadening alone) and thats damn near 100 lbs... did it to my car and had to re adjust my rear suspension! had way less camber afterward not to metion it sat way higher...

"Having won more road races than any other model in history, the E30 M3 is considered by many to be the world's most successful road race car." - Simply put, E30s kick ass.

I vote for leaving them in and buying aftermarket reclinables to replace your shells, or taking it out and putting in a rollbar. (If you aren't FUH RAZE, then why do you have racing shells?)

                              It's a no-no to run race shells w/o roll protection. I wouldn't risk my spine/life that way.
