How to Swapping Out Steering Wheel?

    Hi.............

I want to replace my factory steering wheel in my 1990 e30. Its the huge wheel with an airbag...Will the SRS light come on without the airbag in tact?

Do I just need to buy the momo hub and new steering wheel and that's it? (from what it seems like that's it based on the things I've read)

    On Tuner Motorsport it says....

"This hub adapter allows installation of a MOMO steering wheel (or any steering wheel that uses the 6 same bolt pattern / specs of a MOMO) to an E30 3 series or 1986-88 E28 5 series. **Modification(s) will need to be made to use this hub on cars that came with an airbag (1991 cars). Includes everything pictured -- hub, slip ring, and hardware."

I know it says 1991 cars, but my 90 has an airbag...what mod does it need? Really hate this huge wheel so I need to get rid of it.

    Order an extra 32311120260

Then you'll need a Torx #27 screwdriver to unscrew the 2 screws holding the airbag center to the wheel on the back side near the hub, then unplug the orange connector, then use a 22mm socket and long ratchet to loosen the steering wheel nut, then turn your ignition key to the 'on' position, then pull the airbag wheel off, then pull out the white plastic stud from the steering column base with a violent and sudden motion [at approx. the 10 o'clock position] with some pliers, then bolt on your MOMO hub to your wheel then slip that onto the splines, then put 32311120260 over that, then put the nut on. Adjust for 12 o-clock if necessary. Done.

The Momo hub will work. To get rid of the SRS light, get yourself a check panel from a non-airbag car.

Or just disconnect the SRS computer underneath the knee bolster
