Did my Calypso used to have biege interior?

So I went about pulling out my e46 seats today, and was cleaning the carpet in preparation to dye it black. I pulled out my cracked center console to find a piece of beige carpet around the heater box. I know it's common for people to cut around the heater box when pulling carpet.

Does this mean my carpet was swapped at some point?

If this is actually the case, it's very surprising. I am the 3rd owner, second owner had the car only a month and didn't do a thing with it, and the original owner was an old guy that had bought the car new. It must have been the original owner, but very odd that an old dud would swap out the entire interior form beige to black.

It's very possible that it could have been done at the dealer when new.

I have a friend whose E30 had that done!
