Tall guys in your e30s, seat options?

I am 6'4'' and Ive had an issue with cars for as long as I could drive. I have a bad neck and back, and the only way I have found comfortable to drive is to lean and crush like a soda can into a car. Kinda like sitting my ass half down the bottom of the seat, seat all the way back, etc.

The e30 has been the best for comfort, however since I love my car and plan on keeping it for a while I was looking possibly for ideas of another option.

I currently have gray sport seats with a gray interior, and would prefer something that would fit a gray interior. I was wondering if the m3 vaders out of an e36 have more "huggy" bolsters and sit lower?

Im basically looking for options to sit lower (my head almost hits the roof and I look rediculious driving such a small car) and I would love a more huggy upper/lower bolsters (Like what the evos have, awesome seats ;)). Maybe a mod to the rails, mod to the seat itself, etc.

If its possible, I would like it looking oem as possible. Not a huge fan of racing seats, it kinda just looks pretty cheesey in my opinion to put non adjustable buckets in a daily. And im not looking to bankrupt myself over seats, I got a lot of things to do to my car under the hood and exterior, that the only thing really going into my interior would be the seats.

Thanks for the heads up guys!!

I'm 6'9", I'm presently working with another supplier to bring a product to the market that will resolve issue we both suffer. I'll keep this thread in mind, and get back to you soon.

Im glad to see someone has atleast thought of this. Im hoping that the vaders would really sit a lot lower, seems like a cheap upgrade that would also give me some bolsters that appear tighter

I'm 6'4" and so far I am loving the e30. I am really surprised I fit in it so well with the sport seats. Although they are probably a little lower than they were when they were new haha. All the small cars I drove before this were austin healey's and mg's so coming out of those into the e30 is like moving from a single wide to the taj mahal!

In the meantime, go for Speedware brackets and an aftermarket seat like a Recaro Speed / SRD to add headroom.

They gave me lots of headroom to spare even with a helmet on (6'1"). Of course, that's nearly a grand for just the driver's side, although worth it IMO.

If my head is that low at 6'1", 6'4" should fit well.

Yea, if I could get my head like that it would really help out.

Im gonna look at seats just to see, I figure they are going to be more then I am willing to spend though.

Can anybody back up the m3 vaders?

              EDIT:

If anyone is looking for aftermarket seats, I found a link devoted to racing seats in e30s

I'm 6' and these are all the way forward. Leg room is no longer an issue. Fully adjustable along with height. Had drill 3 points to bolt to the floor and used the factory inner front stud.

These are also height adjustable, plenty of head room

Sorry I forgot to mention that important part.

These are out of a mkv GLI. You can get a set for around $500 or so.

They are manual with electronic lumbar adjustment and heated seats. My plan is to find a wiring diagram and the electronics for the e30 heated seats and try to wire them up.

if you swap the bottom of your seats to a bottom seat frame and rails from a 1984-1985 set, you will gain about .5-1 inch head room. the rails on early early models were lower profiled for some reason.

Keep me in mind as well farbin. I'm 6'4" 270lbs... headroom is a problem w/ a helmet, otherwise i'm pretty ok with my seat.
I don't always wreck cars, but when I do I wreck them into trees.
