i know old thread, but.... if you wait about a minute for the dye to set up then vacuum it, it takes the stiff feeling out of the carpet, also wetting the carpet with a spray bottle ever so slightly makes it cover evenly and helps to keep the "stiff" feeling from occuring.

Just bought a can of it online. $8.80 (plus another $8 damn dollars for shipping). Hopefully it works well!

It is $7.99 for VHT and $5.49 for Duplicolor locally at Autozone. I don't know if they have it near you but you could have bought another can for the price you paid on shipping.

I have used the duplicolor vinyl & fabric dye and it works very well if you do it right. Just use light coats and make sure the surface is clean. I also lightly sand vinyl to make it stick better.
