    Not sure....Wind noise is the only thing I can think of. I *hate* that stuff.

      It wasn't like that from the factory. Just like humans, when cars get old, they begin to grow hair and pubes in strange areas.

            not sure if this helps wind noise at all. lol. the e30 is about the loudest car I have ever been in.

              Well - I hear ya. But fuzzy things reduce wind noise. Like the fuzzy socks they put over microphones when recording outside.

                  not uncommon. A lot of cars in the 70s had "furflex" or other "fuzzy" door seals. Look at the seals on your home windows, for that matter....

                  I'd go with the guess on wind noise reduction, I guess ..
