    Clock spring removal

    Hi folks,
I just bought a replacement leather airbag wheel from a board member to replace my plastic one, but it didn't come with a clockspring, so I need to swap mine over. I got the wheel off, and took off the 3 tiny nuts (#3 in the diagram), but I'm stymied by the plastic lever on the spring that appears to hold the clock spring (#2) in place (pieces #5 & #6). I can't pull the clock spring off the back of the wheel since it's being held on by these, but I can't figure out how to remove or disengage them. Could someone offer some insight? I really don't want to break it. Thanks!

Ok, I ended up pulling on it with pliers, and it's just press-fit in. On reassembly into the new wheel I managed to shear off one of the studs that #3 fits on with minimal torque - be very careful! Hopefully it's just a locator and no big deal.
