Seat Rails Rust - need advice

Hi R3V!

I need some advice. i bought a used driverside comfort seat in really nice condition except for one thing. The right side seat rail has rust in numerous places. Should i.......

1. Try to swap the rails from my existing stock seats (assuming they're in better shape, i haven't looked)? Is this easy to do?

Or

2. What should i do to remove the rust? metal wire brush and black spray paint?

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

number 1 would be easier. number 2 requires you to remove it anyway then you'll have to angle grind the shit out of the surface rust. primer, and paint.

Thanks for the tip bmwstephen. Okay, so the next question is, how hard is it to do that? Looks like theres two clips and two large nuts at the base of the seat? Is there all to it? Thanks.

there is a slight learning curve. first time it took me 4 hours but now i can take apart a seat in 30 mins.

if you are patient, I am going to make a video in the coming weeks because I have to service my seats and replace the pistons

Sandblasting would also clean them up very well.
