    Radar Detectors

I hope this is the right spot for this thread.

Not sure if any e30 guys really use radar detectors but I do a decent amount of highway driving and have had an escort 8500 in my previous car for the past two years, but I sold my car to a friend so I let him keep it and then purchased a Valentine 1.

Im just wondering if anyone has mounted the concealed display (mute button) in any fancy ways. Was hoping to get some ideas of where to mount it.

    Thanks,
    Tucker

Start out with a 13 button blinker stalk, figure out which of the 4 wires on your mute button complete a circuit. Complete that circuit, but have part of it running through the wire for the 13 button "cycle" on the stalk. You now have a factory solution for a mute button. ;)

ideas i've had, but never bought radar so couldnt test:

1)tear out the SI board and mounting it there inside with the cluster
2)small flip out panel in trim piece right under cluster
3)move obc to glovebox, cut apart dummy OBC and put the concealed display in place of the screen

if i remember correctly the v1 with stealth mount just needs a led light to blink to alert you and a button to complete a circuit to mute it i would say the stalk idea is good for the cancel button or you could use a button down where the window switches are like the factory window circuit breaker, if you have a door just relocate it up to the dash like coupes have or visversa

Work in progress, but I was thinking about doing something in my cluster...then I found a way of doing it and making it much much cooler and more functional. ;-)

Old thread, but I had an idea about this and was wondering if there was any way the SI lights could be used for a radar detector. Somehow maybe having the lights so the closer you get to a radar the lights go from green to yellow to red.

Anyone know if a way this could be done?
