Go rent a rug doctor from your local supermarket, only use half of the recommended soap, and give a a double extraction to soak up as a much water as possible. The key is to not use too much soap as it will leave residue behind and attract more dirt later on...sigpic

One of the best ways to clean your carpet is vacuum cleaning. But you must be careful while working with carpet fiber as there is risk of getting stuck in vacuum cleaner.Comment

Put some TIDE in a spray bottle with water. (or any other fabric cleaner)
get a nice thick scrub brush.
Spray the floors and scrub out the dirt and stains.
Vacuum.
Never use water and soap in a bucket, you don't want water. Water does nothing but wet the carpet and make it all worse..
Spray, scrub, vacuum.. It's not rocket scienceComment

Thats all unnecessary work. Good luck getting the carpet back in after you just ruined it with all that water.Comment

wash until you see clean water. wet vac it and let it air dry in the sun.
The carpet is nylon, its not wool or berber. Water wont hurt it.
Its a car not a house....Comment

I don't see how removing two seats is "unnecessary work." Even with any trim pieces that need to come off pulling a carpet isn't terribly difficult and then power washing takes a matter of minutes. Scrubbing a carpet removes some of the dirt but pushes most of it deeper to reappear next time it gets wet. Power washing it removes the dirt completely.Comment

How exactly does water ruin carpet?

I have cut the plastic backing off of carpet that has been just powerwashed and it does leave grit behind, but much less than extraction alone.
if its a woven back carpet you power wash it from the back first and then extract.Comment

Stoner carpet cleaner, some warm water and a scrub brush. Elbow grease for 2.5 hours after the seats were removed. Propped up carpet to dry thoroughlt on a warm sunny day.

The lines you see in the after picture are from vacuuming with a shop vac to suck up as much water as possible.
