    sunrook crank handle issues

Ordered one off bma to replace the finicky one I currently have, but for some reason I can't get it to sit right.
I then went ahead and tried the old one and it fit's like a glove.
I even tried tapping w/ a rubber mallet to no profit.

    help meh guise

I love the crank roofs. Looks like you're having a rodeo party in the car when you use it. Woot woot

    No help though.

Bigger hammer, or a blow torch. That is how I get things to fit in tight places. Or lube...

If I pound any harder, the plastic piece will probably break.
maybe I could shave a bit off on the inside

Did you check for any visible differences between the two pieces?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I had the same problem with the one I ordered a while back. Never did get it to fit, you could see that it was smaller because the inside of the metal piece was denting in. it isn't much that its too small but just enough that it will never go on. I just ended up getting one off a car someone was parting out and it popped right on like it should...

I think there must be two sizes or maybe someone is just manufacturing them wrong?

            Hope this helps kinda :-)

I got one off eBay and had the same issue. The problem was that the inner hole was jut barely too small to allow it to slip in place like the original. I used a small cylindrical file to widen the insides. Once I got it close enough, I was able to tap it on in small increments with a hammer, took it off, repeated a dozen times, and it shaved the remainder by itself and was able to fit. Really annoying to have to do, but it works perfect now, really snug.

I've been collecting sunroof handles (I have 4) and I've never, ever found one that fits over the crank post in my car. Even from the same year, my post is too big for the replacement crank to fit.

They look pretty similar, but just won't fit.

the reproduction pieces are slightly off. Just file it out, or search for an oe handle.

Excuse my noobness on this, but are we talking about the knob for the crank? I have a perfectly working crank mechanism, but the crank handle is missing the knob that you would normally hold to turn it. Is this a common thing?

Yeah there is a negligible difference between the two, enough to make it not work

think I'm gonna have to shave the inside of mine with a thin file/sandpaper as well.

nah, talkin bout the whole crank (metal assembly), not the black knob
