E36 Armrest Install in E30

Okay, I know this has been done, but I cannot figure out anywhere how people mounted the armrest base to the trans tunnel...It doesnt seem like a terribly close fit but what have you few that have done it do?

I had to cut about 2-3" off the plastic armrest mount, then I made a custom bracket that tied the armrest into the e-brake mounting points. It is certainly not an easy swap on, but it is not too bad to make a bracket to mount it. They look really great once mounted definately one of my favourite mods.

If you are able to could you take pictures of modded mount and braket, if not I understand, I wouldnt want to take mine back apart either

my first car, i rounded the rear bottom of the e36 console then i used self tapping screws straight thru the trans tunnel, there should be a bracket you can use under the armrest covers. Worked like a charm.

Now in my old age, I don't recommend it though. This time around I just used the cup holders from the early e36 console and made them fit to my oem e brake console.

Use the bracket the e36 uses. I got the bracket and armrest from the yard

you see the black part with the holes in it? Just used large washers and self tapping screws

O gotcha and just drill it in...hmm okay Ill give it a shot...did you grind off the notch on the (well left side in that picture) that hands lower so that it is totally flat on the bottom?
