Do I need to do anything special to change my get rid of my airbag steering wheel and replace it with an M-tech 1 or 2? I am not sure if I have to modify the column or add spacers or anything. Help would be greatly appreciated.

there are write ups if you search but here is a brief summary.
1.add spacer behind the wheel on the shaft. thats cause the mtech isnt as 'deep' in the spline area. thats also the reason you cant put an airbag on nonairbag column.
2.there is a white plastic something that sticks out of the column after the wheel is off. pull that out.
thats it.
* you only pop out the middle roundel/bmw logo out of the middle on the mtech, dont try to open it.
*unplug the battery before you work on the airbag
*give your old wheel away for free
*aside from looking non-gay the mtech is close to the dash so it opens up the cockpit area. it is close to the signal, wipers, and cruise but i was afraid to even try to bend them
*put the wheel straight and mark it so you know where to install the new oneOriginally posted by der affeWhat are you going to start a thread about next? "My woman's skinny jeans chaffe my special parts, f*ck skin irritation"

Also, if the stalks feel too close to the wheel after the swap you can buy a set of pre-airbag stalks and swap them.Interested in vintage cars? Ever thought about racing one? Info, photos, videos, and more can be found at www.michaelsvintageracing.com!
