Anyone know where to buy this shift knob insert?

Looking for part #2, the BMW roundel insert that fits knobs like the one pictured. Hunted online and when I was at the dealer yesterday had him look it up but he claimed he couldn't find the part number. If someone could provide a link or any info that'd be awesome. Looking to swap out my insert for this roundel style if possible. Thanks for any suggestions.

i honestly think the 1.5 inch steering wheel badge might work if i shave the little wings on it.
    ill report back with findings.

              Good luck.
I've been trying on and off over the years to replace the "shift-pattern" insert with a roundel insert on the knob I have w/out any luck.

This one time, I went to try pulling a roundel insert from a used knob - and ended up messing the insert up. It "separated" internally if that makes sense.

Keep me posted if you find a workable solution. Although I fear the only real solution is to troll ebay religiously for a good/used piece. This method is how I finally came across a unicorn/shorty/doorknob vinyl knob I had sought for.

Vinyl knob? I'd like to see. I have a leather doorknob style one but its in pretty bad shape.

So that part number yielded a few sites that said they had a few. I paid for 2 from Turner, waiting to see if the order goes through and ships. Most all sites that list it have a disclaimer that that specific insert is discontinued. I'll let you know if they do in fact arrive. Turner didnt offer a picture, but assuming the part number above is correct, which I did cross reference with real OEM, they should arrive this week, fingers crossed.

Yeah, the leather ones kinda turn me off since they wear out.

Here's a picture of the short/vinyl knob I found. It was weird - like I remember reading about them, then finding they were NLA and pretty unpopular to boot - then out of nowhere, I saw and snagged one listed randomly on ebay.. seems like the tall/vinyls are still quite available.

Interesting. So is that knob solid vinyl or vinyl wrapped?

I'm not sure what I have (short/tall) but I have 2 plastic ones, a leather wrapped one, and a wooden one that need an insert to snap into place.

don't know.. I assume it's a core of tough foam or something dipped in vinyl. don't know how they're manufactured(?) - but that that short knob is a shorter version of the tall one..

Ya but aren't they like $85 or something crazy. If they still make those knobs somewhere, then they must still make that insert. I saw that knob listed elsewhere also, eBay and other online vendors. I just want the damn insert for my aftermarket knob though!
