    Colorbond 1 year later

Well, I had my E24 apart some and decided to go ahead and throw down a "1 year later thread" since most people have questions about durability.

    Things I colorbonded:

    Door Pull and outer Panel
    Sport Seats

The sport seats were Perl Beige and I needed Natur. Colorbond had Natur and it was pretty close. Some of my panels have been redone and are a pinker color than Natur. Strange.

The door pulls were originally Tobacco Nasty or some such. It was bad. They looked like crap. The carpet on them was tan and in good shape, but I couldn't figure out how to mask it off well. After dying the carpet felt mostly the same. I can tell you they look EXACTLY like factory black panels and have 0 wear after 1 year.

The passenger seat needed a quick touchup once due to a 150lbs box I sat in the seat...I figured fat assed americans could sit in the seat OK so why not a box? Stupid me. The leather was damaged a little too, so I know it wasn't the coloration giving up.

    Pics attached.

Sorry man - this thing is locked away in my garage and I'm not taking it out of there until the paint guys are ready for me. I don't have enough light for a good pic. I'll have more after the paint job though. It looks exactly like it should though, I'll tell you that much.

I used VHT and SEM before on an E30 interior and I can tell you that CB beat them both as far as I'm concerned. The carpet was much happier with the CB than earlier attempts with VHT.

Colorbond is truly incredible stuff, I changed my rear seat from gray leather to black and you honestly would never ever guess it isn't an original black leather seat. It looks great, the "BMW Black" color is a perfect match, and the feel of the leather is just amazing. It doesn't flake, scratch, or come off on clothes or anything. I would not hesitate to use this stuff on any leather seat, it's virtually indistinguishable from untreated leather in my opinion.
