    Instrument cluster removal.

I can't for the life of me get the trim piece underneath the cluster out. I tried prying at it but it feels like I'm going to break something if I pry more. I got both of the knurled hand nuts at the back. someone willing to help a nooby out?

I had the same issue - I finally went for it and it survived - I think I broke one tiny post on it but it hasn't affected anything. It has more flex than you might think. I did dremel off some of it to get it back together easier.

once you remove those hand nuts it should pop out, but I typically take a small flat head and work around the edges and just pull it out. It can give a little bit of resistance but be careful

Aright I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Did any of you remove the steering wheel for this? I left mine on, cos I've read you can do the job without its removal.

I did take the wheel off as I was swapping that out at the time. Plus tightening the ground nut as my temp gauge was flaky. Let me correct that, putting on a new ground nut (with lock washer) as the old one was completely gone!

The part I had even less fun was getting the cluster out of the dash - but maybe you'll have better luck. In the end I got it done.

Haha I think I might have the same problem as you. Smacking the dash stopped working a few weeks ago..did you leave the plastic cover on the steering column as well? (that plastic piece around ignition)

You dont have to take the steering wheel or the steering column plastic off. I always get that trim piece off by pushing on the two little guide pins that are on the inside, no prying required.
