    airbag knee bolster/kick panel retrofit?

    anyone tried this on an early model to replace the squareish fiberglass one

    Haven't tried this but I know from have an airbag car and a non-airbag car. You'll have to fabricate and mount some kind of support for where the 2 panels meet or else they'll sag over time. The knee bolster has a fair amount of weight to it.

    Additionally the airbag knee bolster attaches to the dash with sheet metal screws, not the plastic 1/4-turn "screws". So you'll probably install some of the sheet metal U-clips (I think its P/N 51 13 1 914 097) in the dash to accept the screws.

      I do hate that piece. Mine is a terrible fiberboard, just disentegrates.

        supposedly BMW has a replacement for those years in a new foam/vinyl material but I prefer the knee bag version because of its curvature which matches the top of the dash better
