Big fella here, comfort vs sport seat questions

At 6'1, 300 lbs I'm pushing the limits of finding an ideal comfortable driving position in my eta coupe. I have factory sports that I can't seem to get comfortable in. I feel like I'm too "close" and to "high" in the seat, even with all the adjustments at full tilt. Will comfort seats provide more room in these areas, or are they simply softer and less supportive without affording you more room? They seem less cumbersome than sports so I figured maybe they would afford me more room to maneuver. Thanks for the imput

I'm 6'2" and about 180lbs with a long torso so headroom is difficult for me on most cars. I've got a '86 es that came with sport seats and that I was able to adjust so I just fit in the car comfortably, leaving just enough room for my head. But adjusting the seat was a problem so I took it apart to see what was going on... Turns out the base of the seat was broken clean in half from side to side.

Looking at the seat frame there are several weak points and before I rebuild my seat I plan to reinforce the frame as much as possible.

Meanwhile I have a comfort seat in my car. It came out of a sedan and doesn't have all the adjustments the sport seats have. The biggest issue I have with the comfort seat is that it seems to sit higher than the sport seat. This is a problem because I can't adjust the back to recline so I have to slouch in my seat to fit in the car. You may have the same problem if you go with a comfort seat.

There are aftermarket seats out there that you might consider but no matter what you decide I would look very closely at the frame to make sure there are no issues. I purchased a seat base I thought was good at a junk yard and found it rife with cracks and a break I had not noticed when making the purchase.

    Good luck!

6'3" 225 here. After having 3 e30s 2 with sports and one with comfort. I prefer the comfort. I've had a few people comment that the sports suck also, and they wasn't large people either.

6'0 and tiny as hell so i love the hip hugging sport seats, but i have a friend around your size who has the same issue. i cant speak for the adjustability of the comfort seat since i like sitting straight up but you will have a wider base to move around in, and all passengers say they like the comforts over the sports (all sizes). seems like you should get a comfort for the driver and try it out. worst case scenario you sell it and then have to find an aftermarket seat.
