Check panel dropped into roof

I foolishly pried off the check panel and now I can't seem to get it to stick back into it's place. The receptacle that it snaps into keeps getting pushed into the roof lining as I push the check panel upwards

anyone know how to get it to stay?

I pull the vinyl of the sun visor panel out along with the check panel housing thing and put the face plate on while its out. Then just push it all in making sure that the vinyl rolls back in. Sorry if thats confusing...dont really know how to explain that...
