I got a great deal on an mtech wheel that needs recovered, am I an asshole for considering cardinal leather to match my interior? The mockup I did looks nice but I'm concerned I will blow $150 and have it look shitty.

Sort of what I figured. I was intrigued but it's probably for the best. Anyone know a decent place to get it recovered?sigpic

Steering wheel in red might look good only if you did the dash and center console in red too..but that would be ridiculously expensive.Comment

See I was thinking the wheel might give it some contrast. I've gotten cardinal seats and door cards, with black pulls and hopefully in the next month or two black carpet. Redoing the whole dash/console makes me think it would be way too much red. I'll probably just hold onto it and go for black.sigpic

I'd stick with black. It's easier to match and it's going to hide dirt better. You generally don't notice because its such a dark color but steering wheels are filthy things. Cardinal you're going to be cleaning constantly. I also think the transition from black dash/steering column to cardinal wheel is going to look awkward. If anything I think a wheel could be a two tone cardinal-black but I don't think the M tech 1 lends itself well to that.Comment

Augh see that doesn't help anything because I think that looks fantastic. Obviously I'd go for a little bit lighter to closer match what I've got... damn.Your not the first, was 1 for sale on E28 with pictures.

Big thanks for the link, that's very helpful.
I had an Acura with a light grey wheel so I get what you're talking about. The linked one from the E28 forum makes me want to try it though, I think if you got the leather closely matched to what's in there it would look excellent.I'd stick with black. It's easier to match and it's going to hide dirt better. You generally don't notice because its such a dark color but steering wheels are filthy things. Cardinal you're going to be cleaning constantly. I also think the transition from black dash/steering column to cardinal wheel is going to look awkward. Thanks for all the feedback, I'll have to make up my mind. Will post pics either way.sigpic
