like the title says. anyone know how these things work. i wouldent mind trying to tinker with it my seats are vinyl and in overall good condition. the stupid freakin thing just wont recline.

You'll have to clean the recline mechanisms at each side of the seat. It's probably best to remove them, you'll be able to clean them better. I used qtips with degreaser to get inside the mech, and then lubed them with lithium grease when done.
Here's a DIY on disassembling the seat. It's not too hard.
