Dim Dash Lights?

Time for me to ask another stupid question.

So I drove my car at night for the first time last night.

My cluster lights seem extremely dim. I know it needs SI batteries, is that the reason they are so dim? Or is there a dome button/switch/dial that I'm completing missing?

I know stupid questions que smart remarks, but I'm really not sure. lol
