remove upper doorsill trim without breaking it

what's the trick to remove the upper part of the doorsill trim - the curved piece of hard plastic trim that covers the weatherstripping for the lower part of the door opening? see image pls

slide it forwards as far as you can, at least past the first clip... use a dowel or something (screwdriver will fuck it up) then pull it up so it doesn't slide back onto that clip and pulli t back till it slides off all the other clips...take the rear seat bottom portion out so you can accomplish this. if it breaks they aren't that expensive new from BMW

Thank you for that information, broke one prior to reading this thread..they are $16.00 each from ECS.

Now, How do you put them back on? I have two new ones to install with all the new clips.

      Thanks,
      Stan

put the clips in the rail/body, line them up with the holes in the trim, pop them in with a hammer fist.

Thanks, that's what I was going to do, but I did not order enough clips. I am only 2 short (14 clips total) Maybe I can save some of the old ones while removing all of them. They are a PITA to remove intact.

          Thanks,
          Stan

Does anyone know if the correct clip is part # 51471840961 or is it 51471840960 ? They are different sizes.

              Yes,
You need 51471840961for the inner sill. Part number 51471840960 is for the outer door sill.
