    Custom Upholstery

I'm looking at doing a custom re-upholster for the interior of my zinnoberrot cabrio, and just ran across this interior, which I think looks pretty sharp. In a cabrio, the black would have to wrap around onto the convertible deck lid cover to make the contrasting door panels work. (I like that the high contact areas like armrests are black, since they tend to get dirty.)

I'm not 100% sure this color upholstery will work with zinno though. Opinions?

In the end, I guess I'll have to look at swatches next to the car to figure it out, but I'm interested in any ideas or suggestions anyone might have.

Current color is tan (I guess perlbeige), but I'm thinking something a little richer might be nice, especially since it's all going to be high end leather.

I really like the color and the distressed leather, but I'm not 100% certain about the quilting. I think I prefer the straight across lines.

Would look great on a car with clean original paint and patina, though!

That looks awesome, how much does something like that cost?

Just bought a set of e36 vaders. Got a smoking deal on them, but they are definitely going to need a recover. How much does a reupholster usually run??

Sure, what do you want to know?

Basically, the interior is as you see. All leather, custom upholstery, French seams with contrasting black thread. Door panel inserts are custom, surrounding black bits are covered with new vinyl. Similar in the rear. Had the convertible deck lib recovered with new vinyl, and the seat backs too.

Here's another shot. The deck lid is just resting, still needed to be attached when this was taken.

I guess I was more curious who did the work. It looks great.

Do you know how the door panel inserts are attached?

                          Acker Leatherworks, San Francisco.

No idea how the panels are attached, but I'll ask the next time I talk to him.
