Hello folks. I replaced my manual window crank this weekend ('87 325), and everything went fine, until I realized I put it in backwards and it wasn't going to fold up correctly. Since it was a very tight fit on the mounting post, I knew it was going to be hard to get off, and in the process, I heard a little "ting" and the gear /w the post attached pulled right out of the assembly. I managed to keep all the pieces together in my hand, and actually put it back together the right way and it works. But I knew I broke something, because the gear would not stay in place, without me pushing up and holding it with my hand.
I think I broke a retaining clip...

here's some info from pelican on the whole gear assembly.
Has anyone any experience with these, and can I replace the clip with maybe something from a kit like below? Or any advice?
