Need help! inspecting floor for rust

    Hey guys

New here to the site :)

I'm looking to purchase an 88 325is, but I want to inspect the floor for rust.

The car is very clean and ahs very little rust, but I want to look under the carpet in the footwells to see if there's any rust. Should I just rely on a visual inspection of the underside? I'd really like to remove the carpet, but I'm not sure the seller would be ok with me doing that

I read that the carpet is hard to remove the whole thing, so I'd like to just get around the drivers foot well/

    any help is appreciated :)

Carpet is a massive undertaking that will take at least an hour to get out if you haven't done it before.

As for looking at the floor the best thing you can do is examine the gas pedal. The mount it attaches to is a wonderful little collection point for water dirt and salt and will probably be the first thing to show signs of rust. If it is showing you can assume that the rest of the floor is gone.
