How many hides does it take?

I'm going to recover a pair of sport seats with leather. I have made a few smaller motorcycle seats and I'm ready to tackle my busted-ass vinyl sport seats. Can anyone tell me how much material/hides to buy? I want some left over for a shift boot and possibly steering wheel. Also where to get replacement foam? Thanks
