    steering wheel help

    hi all,
i have a 1991 convertible with an airbag steering wheel. Im shopping ebay, etc to find either an mtech 1 or 2 wheel. I've seen that the splines might be different sizes.

I havent pulled my steering wheel and didnt really want to at this time. is there a certain year when things switched where I need to look for the fine tooth spline vs the other? I can't find pictures where there's a difference either. What do i need to look for? Thanks much, search didn't really return much to go on.

Just make sure you don't buy an M-tech 1 from a pre-'85 E28 or an M-tech 2 from an E36. Other than that, you're good to go. My M-tech 1 is from an '87 E28. Don't forget you'll need a spacer to install the wheel once you get it, though.

      M tech wheel

I got mine from Germany. The guy is on E-bay. You can get the M stitching or plain. Mine was an airbag car also. The wheel was expensive but the work on the wheel is impeccable. Smooth transaction on e-bay. The spacer is available from BMW for about 10.00. Install instructions on you tube and on rv3 . The spline is 18mm
