What the heck is up with my interior?

    Hi all,

I promise i did a search first but found nothing conclusive...

I recently picked up a 86' 325e sedan and the interior has gained my curiosity: it looks like I have the 5 series interior from the mid 80s but without the arm rests (bummer for no armrests). The raised leather between the stitching quite a bit more prolific on these than on other e30s ive driven… or maybe that’s because most e30 seats have gone to pot theses days.

So, Are these the standard e30 seats? My options list from the VIN decoder shows the rear arm rest and headrests, but it doesn’t specifically name the interior configuration, if there is such a thing...

By the way... they are in great shape and way way more comfortable than the factory recaros in my 89 325i coupe.

Backstory: the car was supposedly sitting in a barn for 15 years before I got myhands on it and the leather did crisp up a little bit. Considering an interior redeye/restore as the driver seat is beginning to show some moderate to light cracking.

    Best,
    -Tyler

you got a good interior with rear headrest and ski pass. You might have a map mirror light too since I have seen many e30 with those two options with a map mirror.

Thanks, Definitely a solid interior. wouldn't have paid $2500 for a barn find had the interior not been so dang-near perfect. the leather does need some limited reconditioning, though...i'm thinking a leatherique redye kit.

No map mirror...yet;). i will be adding one in the coming weeks. :ST1G:

I do however, have a made-for-BMW radar detector that was probably dealership installed. I also have a rust proofed undercarriage so i think the dealership sold the woman who first bought the car (this was a one-owner before me) a few not-so typical options that make this car such a cool find...I wonder if the detector even works on today's radar...not that the 325e has enough get-up to worry about tickets.

Back to your comment: When i take the leather flap down where the ski pass should be, all i get is what appears to be a solid trunk wall. is there something else i need to release or do i not have the ski pass?

Thanks for helping out a .

punch that pentagon shaped sheet metal with a rubber mallet. Then you will have an actual ski pass.

You need the bag that velcros on as well if you want the full shebang. You may notice a little more cabin noise, but it shouldn't be huge.

I have a complete ski-pass bag, cover, and latch for sale if you want one. $40 shipped. Otherwise, sexy as a mug interior. Nice find.

That's not a ski pass hole, that's where you put a GAS 10" box. ;-)

Leatherique makes a restore kit that helps reduce light cracking and moisten the leather. From reading around on here and other sites it's supposed to work really well.

That's just a standard Pearl Beige leather interior. I have a rear seat and a sport seat with that same stitching, it does look a little different than other e30 materials sitching for some reason.
It's not bad paint, it's called "patina"
