More Goodies from Rob! (rscheiring) Leather Shift Boot

I just got a black leather shift boot from Rob today! The leather is really nice quality, and the stitching is great too! VERY HAPPY!
    Old Vinyl Boot:

    Death to Vinyl Boots!

    Arrived:

It took me about 30 minutes to install it. From the time out of the package to in the car.

Getting the vinyl boot off took a while because it's glued to the plastic base. I got most of it off in in about 5 minutes, but there was still tiny bits of it glued around the edges that I had to use a knife to cut off. Crappy picture, sorry.

Getting the plastic ring around the leather at the top was quite a task... mainly because the leather is way thicker than the vinyl. But it finally did go on and fit just fine.

Then I used Krazy Glue and glued the leather one on. I found it worked best to tack down the sides and front and back first to keep the boot from moving around on the frame. Then I went around and glued the rest of it on.

    Finished product. Lookin' nice!
    In the car:

How's Rob coming (not Mod Rob, leather guy) through with the double seam e-brake boot? I'll also need a leather shift boot this spring/summer.....as my shifter is sorta super-glued to my rod and my gator. haha, better than replacing it then.

Anyone know where I can get a cheap good shift knob?

And Rob R. so I can get both boots from you eventually?

shift boot looks pretty good. i think if you just got a shorter shift knob that would help alot. that looks like huge throws for stock.

I gave Rob the measurements from the OEM double-seamed ebrake boot, so I'm assuming that he'll have a prototype soon.

Are you looking for an OEM knob? Check eBay.

Thanks for posting Ken, and thanks for the compliments all. I actually did partial assembly last night on the double seam (both seams double stitched) ebrake boot, but ran out of thread.

Vintage has a knob that drops the throw without putting a SSK in.

Anyone hear of how it works?

                          Rob,
I think it's safe to say that we're all really looking forward to seeing the double-seamed ebrake boot!
