Glove box-Hard to close, after reassembling... help!

Anyone have this prob. I need advice!

I took my glove box apart to install a motronic chip and everything was great. I was pretty careful, but I think the glovebox when it was resting open, with the straps not attached may have bent or stretched a little downwards - because now when I put it all back together, the lock mechanism doens't line up perfectly and it's hard to get it to close.

I basically had to slam it shut to get it to latch...

I reassembled the whole thing twice just to make sure and I can' figure out what the $&#*$ could be the issue.. it's like a few MM off and won't quite go into the metal catch hole (no jokes please!) with the latch teeth.

The rest of my repairs this weekend went great, but to not be able to close the glovebox is driving my nuts.

loosen the pivots, latch the latch, re-tighten.

repeat as necessary, they can be an absolute bitch

      pivots?

Which are the pivots? In the back where it's attached to the firewall?

      thank you
