    Steering wheel skin

Last week I posted about doing a headliner in faux Suede. I did that, waiting for some parts of it to setup before I can reinstall it.

Now I want to recover my steering wheel. When I purchased the car (1991 MB 300e) the wheel was in great condition, but has become cracked and hard in the last few months.

I have several yards remaining from the headliner, gray suede. What is need is a pattern or idea of how to orient the material to best cover the contours of the wheel...

Anyone have any ideas? a picture of a sew-on "Wheel-Skin" would do- uninstalled. I don't want to waste much material because it was costly... and I want to attempt it myself before paying anyone to do it.

Just cut it a little big and as you sew it on, cut it to fit. I will be covering a wheel soon in real black suede and that is what I plan on doing. Just take your time and you won't waste any material.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for your faux suede?

I am not really sure what I paid. The material must have been 6 feet x 8 feet. The headliner guy charged me an additional $60... $200 total.

I was just asking because I can get real sued for about 30-40$ a hide, which is roughly 4'x4'. Basically the size of a cow. lol If you want some for a wheel, I could cut you a chunk big enough. PM me if you are interested.

          Andrew,
Sell me the wheel when you're done with it. I'm looking for one.

I may be interested. I am going to use what I have remaining, which is gray. Black would look better, but I figure if I can do it once I can do it better teh second time.

BTW, how are you stitching it?
