It was a nice hot Saturday afternoon, I had just returned from a camping trip with a bunch of buddies and after running a few errands, I decided it was time to give some TLC to the Bimmer. I hadn't vaccumed the carpet for about a week so it was high time to do a once over interior detail.
I got a little carried away and as I was working, discovered that I have had a small cancerous tumor with the potential to spread. I talked to an expert today and he told me it would be a minor fix. I was relieved that I caught it when I did though. I couldn't have survived much longer if it continued.
Enough talk... PICS
This was caused by my antenna grommet being old and cracked. Every time it rained or I washed my car, I got water running down the antenna mast, along the sheet metal seam and corroding away by the wheel well.
I got a few other projects done on Saturday as well. Got my trunk tar all taken car of...
And I'm really sorry to those of you who had to get a hammer and flat blade and attack it for hours to remove it. Mine just required a steady pull and it came out in probably 7 pieces. 30 minutes of work tops.
I also painted my door arm rests and map pockets. I saw another car witha tan interior and I really liked how the black door handles brought the color of the center console and drew it further back along the car. It also visually appeals as you open the door because it accents the black door sills and seat hardware...
The arm rests were prepped with a Mr.Clean Magic Eraser and some rubbing alcohol. Then I painted them with a can of matte black Vinyl/Fabric paint from Wal-Mart.
This is also a Teaser of my car since I have never posted a full photo shoot before. I'll be posting more threads in the Mod Garage for a while, so keep updated with the car as you see it transform.
Cheers,
Brandon
