    New cluster not working?

On the car I picked up, the cluster was dead. speedo worked some of the time, as with fuel gauge. temp gauge worked. But so did the lights in the cluster

I picked up a cluster a little while back, so I had a spare. I put it in, and swapped all the bulbs over, and everything works but the actual illumination.
    I don't get it

how do you swap out the batteries? the bentley just says to replace the cluster. are they the ones behind the "perform service" indicator lights?

Also if the cluster's been unplugged the batteries could have simply drained - see if they charge over a day or two.

how would I go about charging them?

and the batteries were the problem. took the cluster out of my touring and it worked fine

now I just have to find another euro cluster for the touring...

Just leave it plugged in - whenever I store my car over winter with the battery out of it; it takes a day or two for the batteries to charge up and the instruments to work.
