    Locking system Help

I bought my e30 and it only came with one key that works to turn on the ignition. That same key doesn't work for locking or unlocking the car. Can I get a key made for the outside locks? My car is always unlocked because I have no way of locking it. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

My suggestion is first, go to the dealer an get a key cut from your VIN, not a copy.

I've seen this fix the issues several times, and only cost like $20 last time I did it.

Otherwise, it is cylinder rebuild time, IMO a major PITA.

    Best of luck

sounds like someone replaced the ignition tumbler and did not match the door and trunk locks. If you get a key cut to the VIN it should be right for the doors and trunk, it might even work in all of them if you are lucky.
