I am placing an oil psi gauge down by the shifter too~ it will be kind of attached to the bottom of the hvac panal so it doesnt get in the way of my food/cig/phone storage area.

The gauges in the pillar are boost/vac and egt.

My brother and I have been fabbing up some one piece Carbon fiber A pillar covers for the E30.

We are working on desinging a one piece a-pillar cover with guage pods built into it out of carbon fiber. Final design will not be done with for a few weeks/months.

Best place, IMO. Covers the lower portion of the speedometer.

that little hole in the dash is some little slot for stuff. i dunno, mine had that too. a pack of cigs fits PERFECT in that little slot. but i agree. i would make an attempt to hide the wires a bit better.

i have those exact gauges. boost, egt, and oil pressure.

turning them on, then off. they sweep when they are powered up. even shutting down they look cool. not cheap, let me tell you. i paid $800 for 3 gauges and the control unit. mine are white, with the amber needle.

That civic doesnt look that good with a panel cut out of the center of the dash and wires running up to the wierd guages. If it looked more factory itd be pretty sweet.

i have a bit different car. 97 240sx. i have a pillar pod that holds 2 gauges, but i dont think i want to use it. never really been a fan of the A pillar pods.

i have 3 defi's that im pretty certain i want to mount on the dash, just like in this civic:


i dont know where to mount the control unit for the gauges?


ive never had so many electronics before.. these will also be mounted somewhere in there, flashing and blinking.

To make it look good youd have to get it match the texture of the dash.

That's alot like what I was invisioning. I'm sure it would take a lot of patience and trial-and-error work but I imagine it could look very nice and still flow with the classic interior lines of the e30.

Unless you are hardcore racing, you really don't have to read your gauges all the time anyway. For street purposes, you really don't have to have them at all. However, it is good to know the oil pressure and temps so I guess my point is, the parker placement should be fine for most people. Just my .02.

I agree with you as well. I think the reason the Audi crew designed a center vent boost gauge is because the cars didn't come with boost gauge in the first place. And Boost is something that you definitely need to watch one you start modifying you car.

If you oil pressure starts going you'll see secondaries (secondary signs or what's going on) right away and then you'll be looking at all your gauges to figure out what's going on.

Now, a car like MR. 325's car would definitley need a lot of gauges and in a very visible place. But for most of us, in front of the shifter should be just fine.

Thats for an Audi A4/S4. I have the same one in my S4, and I love it!!

I have definitely seen some people on the Audi boards that have done these home made style, cause they cost like $300. You should get a few vents from a junkyard and practice. I bet you could do it with some patience and spare vents.

I am going with the parker pod just because i feel it holds the classic look of the old bimmer. I cant argue that the center vent isnt better visibly but its just to hard core for me. I havent been able to get ahold of Mark at Parker via email I wish there was a number i coudl call, anyone else having trouble with email?
