I really like the placement of the guages right in front of the shifter. Flows with the interior quite well and really arent that hard to see.

The only one that is ever blocked is the far right gauge when the car is in 3rd or 5th. I put the voltmeter in that spot. The other two (oil temp and pressure) are always visible.

Lately I've been toying with the idea of fabricating a Subaru-style gauge pod to sit on top of the dash above the air vents, would that make any sense or would it just look strange?

+1 for a great idea.
my friend has it in his wrx, nice touch, kind of a scoop idea.
hmmmmmm, makes me think now.

Mounted in the left driverside vent next to the door. Then you would still have your center vents and it would still be in a good location.

I don't. I think that's probably 2nd to worst location that I've seen, because of akward angle and location right behind the shifter. I prefer the 3 gauge holder that goes in the space above the ashtray because I never use that space anyway, but I do use the ashtray as a coin tray and I use the 12v cigarette lighter outlet.

+1 that'll ditract you from the road, which is always a bad thing if you have to take you mind off of where you are going

Well this is my car, so I have them....
Also I have some spare LED modules in case something goes wrong...

I bet one need more than US$500 to get some of those, and also he will need the senders, and the wire harness + installation...

In any case, I just love those gauges !
