Early/Late seat mounts

Just swapped my late model comfort seats from my 89 into my 84 that had sport seats before I sell it. They seem to have different mounts. The late model seems to have a spacer that the early mount doesn't have. Anyone else notice this?

I had sport seats out of an 89 in my 84 and they bolted right in.

The seats line up fine, The seat mount seems thicker, thus I barely am able to thread the nuts on. Before I would have three threads protruding the nut, Now, It is not even flush with the nut.
