Heated seat elements

Hey looking to replace fading heated seat elements in a 91'ix. Car has heated seats and all the wiring but aren't getting very hot and seem to be on last legs. Has anyone added new elements to their seats while using the stock buttons? I've done a number of searches but all threads(like below) seem to be a few years old when OEM elements were still available which is not the case anymore as far as I know.

If they work at all, there is nothing wrong with the elements. They are literally just a wire that gets hot (like a light bulb). The lack of heat is likely due to a bad ground or other connection somewhere (corrosion). I'd start there before tearing into the seats.
