    Unlock Seat Belt

    I picked up some two-tone seat belts from an early 90's 7 series. The latch fits the E30 system and I'm not sure if they can be swapped in just yet. I dont even want to try if I can't get the seat belt to extend.

    Does anyone know how to free the locking mechanism so that I can pull the belt out.

      IIRC they have to be held vertically, how they would normally be installed, for the belt to extend retract. Otherwise it is going to remain locked

          Yes, there is a ball bearing that locks the belt. If other not in the correct orientation, it will lock.
