      Which one did you break?

IIRC, it was a lil white piece at 11 o'clock.

6 o'clock piece is thick copper piece that looks sturdy and normal like it was when i first took the wheel off.

and realized today that the wheel does lock when key is out.
turn signals do turn off automatically.

      horn does not work.
wheel is slightly loose for some reason.

will play w/it more tomorrow, had to go to family's house today/tonight... grandparents leave and go back across the pond tomorrow.

again, never put any spacers so i dont know how much that affects everything else.

The wheel is loose becasue you did not put a big stack of washers on before putting the bolt on. These are the spacers everyone is talking about. Basically this will tighten up the wheel. It will do nothing about sapcing the wheel away from the stalks. It is going to allow the nut to tighten your wheel on so it is not loose.

The order things will go onto the column:

        Steering Wheel
        Stack of washers (spacer)
        22mm Nut

WHY DIDNT ANYONE EVER PUT IT THAT WAY!!!

lol... thanks so much for clarifying. i always thought it was supposed to be something underneath the wheel because of the way it was described by others, and because of the way the bases of the wheels look in comparison.

again, thanks for clarifying, and i will report back in tomorrow!

If the horn still isn't working check to make sure the little pin at 6 o'clock is making contact with the wheel. Since you mention the turn signals are turning off automatically you're close to making it work.

You can test your horn by grouding that copper pin to make sure you're troubleshooting the right way.

just for closure since i know you all were looking foward to it lol

i put some spacers in (really just 3 or 4 washers that i found in the garage) they are actually garden/utility hose washers so they are a bit rubbery but still hard. i used 3 of those, and then 1 black rubbery one i found lying around. used the black rubbery one and stretched it a lil more so that it would go all the way to the bottom, then the 3 (or 2 i cant even remember right now) orange hose washers and then the metal washer and the nut. tightened till it was nice and tight, and voila! the horn works!

basically learned that when i just had the washer, it wasnt going down all the way flush to the bottom as it should have been. the threads end and the splines begin before the bottom of the steering wheel, so the washer was stopping at the splines. you need the washers (or spacers whatever you want to call them) to cover the height of the splines, so that when you put the original metal washer, it can be tightened down nice and tight like it was threaded all the way.

hope this helps for whoever may search and need info.

                  thanks for all the help.

edit: i still dont know what that white piece was for that i broke some off of. all my wheel functions work. it is not loose, the turn signals turn off automatically, the steering wheel locks, and the horn is loud as ever.
