Trunk carpet soaked in gear oil! - solution?

A diff I bought pissed gear oil all over my trunk carpet - I tried washing it with car soap - and LOTS of water - but no luck. It's in good condition so I hate to junk it.

Anyone know what gets gear oil out? The F***n' stuff seems imposable to get out!!!!!

Castrol super clean should work. Dilute it and scrub with a brush. It's what I use as a laundry pre-soak on oil stained clothes. Works like a charm.

Good luck either way. I did that with motor oil...wanted to beat the SH*T out of myself.

Dump a bottle of Dawn dish soap on the carpet and let soak in. Take the carpet to a pressure washer and on "soap setting" the carpet should look like new after ~10min. Lay it out in the sun until dry. I had motor oil spill all over my trunk carpet and Dawn + pressure washer did the trick.

This is also a great way to clean floor mats. I bought a used set of tan factory carpet floor mats for nothing because they were nasty looking. After the trip to the pressure washer they looked NEW.

qft. gear oil might be one of the most annoying stains Ive ever encountered. Not to mention the subtle yet numbing stink it gives off. lol
