    Noob Question about sport seats

I have a 1991 318is and recently acquired a 1987 325is. Both cars have the sport seats with vertical pleats. The 318is seats are tan and appear to have a pattern, while the 325is seats are black and smooth. My assumption is that the patterned seats are a vinyl while the smooth seats are leather. Is this correct?

I'm a big guy and feel more comfortable in the 325is seats. Even though they look essential the same, minus the pattern/texture, is there a difference among the e30 sports?

    Thanks, Chuck

If they're smooth, they're most likely leather. But you should be able to tell the difference just by feeling them.

The black ones feel like leather to me. Is there any difference between the sport seats other than material?

Coupe ones fold forward, sedan ones dont. (M3 and cabrio ones have a diff stitch patten). Sturcturally, there is nothing different.
