steering wheel worn out

All,

I have an airbag steering wheel, it's starting to show a lot of wear and tear. I am trying to decide if I should replace it with

a) a stock replacement, keeping the airbag etc...

b) getting rid of the airbag, and going for an attractive 3 spoke sport wheel.

I had removed the airbag wheel on a couple past cars (not on the street).

Of the people that have removed the airbag wheel, but left everything else in there. Does the airbag light (SRS) come on? how did you deal with it?

Boy, I would get rid of that airbag. Not a fan of old bags.

Not sure if the SRS light would come on or not.
