i switched one set of sport seats into my 86 325es and took out the other sport seats, and now my seat belt won't hook up into the buckle...do i need to get a new seat belt or the buckle thats attached to the seat?

Most likely the part that attaches to the seat. Look to see if the seat belt buckel is worn out.

BMW used two different seat belt buckles iirc. You probably just need to replace the buckle(part that attaches to the seat) with a matching one.
