i would love to do something like that down the road... but having seen the work of the people around here who do upholstery in cars with leather... i know they couldnt get it to fit that good and it would have wrinkles everywhere

hehe fair enough. I was in a 996 C4S with $4200+ in leather options, car was artic silver with boxster red leather with black stitching. holy shit, it was incredible, easily to finest coachwork i've seen in any non Rolls/Bently/Maybach......

wow $4200 i would expect that the guy with the e30 spent probably close to $3000 for the complete interior

Over here in Aus tons of people re-spray their dashes and consoles, and most of them look pretty schmick. Sadly though, the best looking colour (white) is also the stupidest as it stays clean for about 23secs before your mates filthy shoes scuff it up and your girl spills chocolate all over it. There are tons of places over here that 're-skin' dashes for a really reasonable price, and lots of places that will retrim whatever you like in leather. I've resprayed a few bits and pieces in my dash (non-BMW) and its easy: just lightly sand, spray many light coats, then allow to dry for at least 24hrs. Leather interior is great if you have a showcar and tons of $$$ to blow on it, but realistically your average E30 driver doesnt fit that bill and is better off either having their dash professionally re-skinned or having a crack themselves!~
