    Cabrio Seats: Heating Elements

    Hey guys,
I just purchased non heated seats and would like to transfer my heating element from my original seats too the new ones.

My original seats are in pretty good, would be mint if some one would just put 2 bolsters on the driverside.

    So,
Has anyone transferred the oringinal heating elements from one seat to another? Does it completely ruin the originals?

If it does I don't think I will do it, I might just buy new heating elements and put those in.

    Thanks
    DJ

If the stitching is the same you can transfer them, meaning vertical to vertical or horizontal to horizontal. If not, no you can not transfer them as they are different shapes, and they fit between the leather and foam. I just priced elements for one of my customers and they run around (my cost) $75.00 per section or $300 for both seats. You can go on ebay and get the kevlar heat pads for both seats, harness and buttons for $150 shipped, they would have to go under the foam as they are not seperate fingers.

Okay thanks. Yea the stitching is the same. I am going from cabrio to M3 seats so they are identical minus the heating elements.

If I transferred my originals would that ruin my seats? If it is going to ruin the seats I won't do it because I plan on selling them and getting some of my money back.

No you wont ruin your seats. The heating element are cloth with the heating elements inside, just be carefull not to break one of the elements. Take the covers off the foam, install the heaters and reinstall. You will have to take all the center sections off both sport seats so it is labor intensive. Or just transfer the center sections from one seat of seats to the other, this would be the simiplest thing to do.

Hmm...well I was thinking about just transferring the nice bolsters from my new seats to my originals. Thats really all they need because my driverside bolsters have holes in them.

If I just transfer bolsters, would that be easier?

If I was to transfer the heating cores into the new seats, even though it is labor intensive, is it hard to do? I know it will take a good amount of time to do but is it hard to break down seats?

I just want 1 perfect set of seats and if I switch some bolsters from my original seats to the new seats and the heating cores from the originals to the news. And then put the new seats "bad" things on the original seats I can have one PERFECT pair and the other pair I can sell to get atleast most of my money back.

Thanks for all the help Kevin

No it is not hard to do. Bolster centers are all seperate, all you have to do it take your time. You will see once you take them apart how the heaters and such go back together.
